Disgusting: The Jonathan Alter Blueprint on How Obama Can Use AZ Tragedy for Cheap Political Gain

There are few in the media lower on the food chain that hack Jonathan Alter, usually a guest of another bottom feeder, Keith Olbermann. Today Alter uses the Arizona shootings to was poetic on how much this can help prop up Barack Obama's failed presidency.

It really doesn't get lower than this. It's journalistic pornography.

So expect Obama to follow his lead.
Conservatives like to argue that these are isolated incidents carried out by lunatics and therefore carry no big lessons (unless the perpetrator is Muslim, in which case it’s terrorism); liberals view them as opportunities to address various social ills. Obama is in the latter category and should act accordingly. “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste,” Rahm Emanuel famously said in 2008. The same goes for a shooting spree that gravely wounds a beloved congresswoman. Congress won’t enact gun control, as it did in the wake of the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Robert F. Kennedy in 1968, but perhaps something positive can come from this.
Liberals view them as opportunities. Wash that one around. Liberals view them as opportunities.

Yes, they do, and they've wasted little time slandering the majority of Americans in less than 48 hours, all the while every one of their ludicrous charges have been proven wrong. But what does it say about people who use mass murder as an opportunity to attain goals they normally wouldn't be able to accomplish. What do we call that?

Evil.

Sick.

Deranged.

All the above.

Now's time for Obama to have his Reagan-esque moment!
The State of the Union will almost certainly begin with heart-wrenching symbolism. Ever since Ronald Reagan put a “citizen hero,” Lenny Skutnik, in the balcony of the House chamber after he rescued passengers from the wreck of an Air Florida jet that crashed in the freezing Potomac River in 1982, American presidents have all used their State of the Unions speeches to honor their own “Skutniks,” as they’ve come to be called in Washington. This year will be no different. At least one or two people connected to the horrific incident (The 20-year-old office intern who heroically applied triage to Gabrielle Giffords? A relative of slain federal judge John Roll?) will undoubtedly sit with Michelle Obama at the speech. And it’s hard to imagine that the poignant birth date of 9-year-old Christina Taylor Greene, September 11, 2001, will escape mention.
Hey, why not just bring everyone involved so Obama can milk it for few hours? Send Air Force One out to pick up the victims, first responders and family members. Heck, bring Jared Lee Loughner so you can point to him in the gallery and remind everyone what a victim of Sarah Palin and talk radio he is.

But wait, there's more! Alter helpfully lays out how Obama can shamelessly exploit a tragedy even further. Heck, may as well make a blueprint on how he can use this to get re-elected, which he'll probably try to do.
From there Obama and his speechwriters will try to set the incident in context. This won’t be easy. As I wrote last week, he needs to govern more in poetry than he has thus far. But if the prose is too purple, it falls flat. If he over-analyzes the tragedy, he risks seeming to middle-of-the-roaders as if he’s politicizing it. (The Right will think that in any event). And if he even implies a direct connection between the words and websites of politicians and the twisted mind of Jared Lee Loughner, he’s asking for trouble.

The president’s overall goal should be to champion civility and convince partisans to at least think twice before over-heating their rhetoric. It will be interesting to gauge the applause on the GOP side of the chamber if he extends the critique to talk radio, where the incitement has been the most conspicuous.
Hey Jonny, you want to see some incitement from your side?

Here you go. Once you're finished digesting that exhaustive list of rabid liberal hate, we'll be happy to discuss civility.

It never ceases to amaze the depths the leftwing media will sink to. Just when you think it can't get worse, another lowlife comes along to outdo another. Note how Alter so casually notes the victims. There's not a scintilla of compassion or heartbreak, as those of us with consciences have felt since Saturday afternoon. No, the victims are merely cheap political props to be used and quickly discarded. Heck, God forbid another tragedy of some kinds happens before the State of the Union, or these people won't have a chance to be exploited so Obama can improve his poll ratings

Evil.

Sick.

Deranged.

It's what they are.

I'm just floored by all of this.  I think Twitter and such played a pretty big role in all of it, though.  A hell of a lot of people jumped on the "it's Palin's fault" bandwagon way before any actual facts came out.  Once it was known the shooter was not a conservative, those people faced the option of  acknowledging Palin may not be the single cause of all evil or continuing the attack even without any connection.

As embarrassing as that first option is, I cannot fathom how they rationalize this to themselves.  As much as I'd love to say this is only the media, Twitter shows that just about every leftist with an internet connection blames Palin/Tea Party.

Very true. They are all that - and worse.

Yeah, I was just thinking that last week.  With double-digit unemployment and no end in sight to wasteful government spending and a constant erosion of Constitutional freedoms, I was thinking, "You know what we need from the President?  More poetry!"

Well, it took about 10 minutes for lefties/Dems to politicize the shooting.  Golly, why would we think Obama would do the same?
