NO HONOUR KILLING...

You would need to have a heart of stone not to feel so sorry for the tragic fate that befell British girl Shafilea Ahmed. This poor young girl was murdered with the greater liklihood it was an "honour killing". If ever there was a term which is entirely inappropriate, then "honour killing" is it. There is NO honour in this barbaric practise - only total shame. The decomposed body of the teenager was found on a riverbank in February 2004, six months after she went missing from her Warrington home. The South Cumbria coroner Ian Smith ruled Shafilea had been unlawfully killed.

Shafilea's parents and five family members were arrested by Cheshire Police but no charges were brought. Mr Smith said Shafilea was genuinely afraid, rightly or wrongly, that her parents were planning to arrange her marriage. Delivering the verdict at the inquest in Kendal, he said he was convinced Shafilea was murdered because of how the body was found. He said the body "had been hidden and she had been taken many miles away from home". Mr Smith said he believed the concept of an arranged marriage for the Muslim teenager was "central" to the circumstances leading up to her death.

It is very bad form that no convictions have been brought here. Those within the Muslim community who think they can get away with such killings need to sent a firm lesson - convict them and put them away for life. It's terrible that young girls meet such an awful fate and we must not tolerate this happening here in the civilised world. When one contemplates how this frightened young girl must have felt as she met her end - it makes me want to weep. Justice for Shafilea means punishing those wicked savages that carried out this vile killing and forcing Islam to become civilised.
